My favourite non-Nautilus and my favourite chronograph. Ok top of that you have best version of the 5170!

You’d be amazed how good it would also look on a rubber strap. My 5296 on rubber strap:

Grandfather chic 5170R

Casual Friday with a Patek that my grandfather would've easily pulled off in the 1960s. In my office environment, this sweater and chinos qualifies as a formal look! LOL A great weekend to all! Best of everything, Robert

Henry, many thanks for this wonderful comparison!

Visually the 41mm case of the 5270 appears a good deal smaller than the 41.3mm case of the 5236P. Actually the 5270 looks to be roughly the same case size of the 38mm 6169P! Is this because of the camera angle/lens location for the close up foto? Or does

Great subject.

Lots to ponder. I am enjoying reading the viewpoints. I have one son who is currently 7 so I hope this is not imminent and my thoughts may certainly change in time. My personal view, as mentioned in a reply above, is to have my watches included within the

Yes, agreed Emmanuel. I'm conscious not to foist my stuff and my passions onto my daughter. If she likes watches, great, if not she should sell them and spend the money on something she loves.

To Robert's original post, when I was looking to buy my grail watch I selected several models I loved and then involved my daughter in the final choice, a PP5236. My daughter does seem to genuinely like the watch, even if she is not particularly keen on m

I think that I've found my grail watch... do you have one?

And by that I mean the watch that would be my ultimate target, which I will possibly never reach... Here it is: it was love at first sight (in real). Pictures are nice, but the real thing is something else 🤤🤤🤤 Cheers!

This is a grail piece for me....

And like you Nicolas, I seem to be charmed largely by pieces from the late 90s to the early 2010s. The 5110 world timer diameter, hands , crown guards, and guilloche dial just provide the perfect combination. Hopefully...one day...one day soon... Rishi

These are both grail watches.

The 50th anniversary nautilus is going to be one of the most coveted versions of this line in recent history. I cannot wait to see it in person. However, I’m super interested in seeing the grey dials on the 5270 and 5236. Thank you for sharing these pics.

Great write up Gordon of a truly very special W&W for Patek. For me one of the very best in recent years, even going back to the Basel shows.

So many novelties to like/love, including the fabulous automaton, the ground breaking new Celestial (both in complications and design), daring and beautiful new dial colors (eg the lacquered dial 5270Ps), 5227G salmon, exceptionally sporty and beautiful b
